Congratulations to the research team led by Professor Chien-Hung Lin of the Master's Program in Sustainable Technology for receiving funding from the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Research Program for the fourth consecutive year. The funded project, entitled "Development of Ultra-High Water Flux Forward Osmosis Membranes Using CO₂-Derived Nanocarbon Materials," demonstrates the team's continued excellence in advancing innovative net-zero technologies.
This research converts captured carbon dioxide (CO₂) into high-value nanocarbon materials, which are subsequently applied to the fabrication of high-performance forward osmosis (FO) membranes with enhanced water permeability and membrane separation efficiency, as well as advanced energy storage electrodes. The project highlights an innovative interdisciplinary integration of carbon capture, carbon utilization, water treatment, and energy storage technologies.
The research team is also collaborating with Hualun Biotechnology Co., Ltd. to promote the practical validation and industrial implementation of CO₂ capture and utilization (CCU) technologies. This partnership effectively bridges academic research and industrial applications, exemplifying academia-industry collaboration while contributing significant momentum to Taiwan's net-zero transition, circular economy, and sustainable technology development.
