The College extends its congratulations to Professor Jian-Hong Lin and his research team for publishing their latest findings in the international journal Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering. The study successfully uncovers the key mechanism for low-temperature catalytic removal of soot from chimney emissions, marking a significant breakthrough in air pollution control.
This research focuses on the carbon–copper interface, significantly enhancing soot oxidation efficiency under low-temperature conditions through precise structural tuning of carbon materials. It overcomes the limitations of conventional high-temperature treatments and introduces a highly efficient, low-energy strategy for soot removal. In addition, the team proposes a novel structural index for carbon materials, establishing a correlation between material structure and catalytic performance, and laying a critical foundation for future developments in air pollution control and sustainable environmental technologies.
